Abigale Miller bio
Abigale Lee
Miller (born on 21 September 1965), is an American choreographer who also
teaches dance and is a reality TV personality. Abby Lee Dance Company is her
own creation that aired for eight seasons on Dance Moms. Miller pleaded guilty
in June 2016 to the charge of felony bankruptcy fraud. She was sentenced to one
year and a day in federal prison, and was released on the 27th of March, 2018.
In April of 2018 she was diagnosed with lymphoma. a form of cancer that
rendered her ineligible to walk. She is now using a wheelchair to move around.
Miller was raised around dance in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, located in a
Pittsburgh suburb, studying under the guidance of her mother at the Maryen
Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller was 14 when she was assigned the choreography and
instruction of one of her mother's dance teams. Miller eventually took over the
studio, renaming it Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by Dance
Masters of America, and was a part of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10
(February 1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February 2012 due to
Miller's show on reality television Dance Moms was a "complete
misconception of the teachers we have and their students" and was damaging
to the profession.
